Nuno Fernandes Silva joined the Chair of Sustainable Construction in 2023 as MOOC educational content coordinator. The MOOC ETH in Regenerative Materials and Construction is a Massive Open Online Course aiming to introduce the basis of regenerative sustainability in the construction domain and to guide the audience through an overview of its construction materials and techniques.
Nuno Silva graduated with an MSc in Architecture in Lisbon with Prof. Aires Mateus in 2004. He worked as project manager in Portugal and Middle East before starting his position as creative director and office partner at Stähelin Partner Architekten in Basel (2014-20). In 2021 he completed the program CAS Regenerative Materials at ETH Zürich and co-founded the architectural practice Studio Hammer in Basel. The Studio is currently researching sustainable building concepts, mapping circular economy assets and climate adaptive design. In 2022 he was awarded for the international competition of Botnar Research Centre for Child Health for the University of Basel & ETH Zurich and in 2023 for the pilot project Reuse Recycling Centre Juch-Areal in Zürich.
