Additional information

Anastasija Komkova is a PhD student at the Chair of Sustainable Construction since 2019.  Her research is focused on the sustainability assessment of alkali-activated materials (AAMs) within the context of a circular economy. She examines the environmental performance of AAMs, as well as investigates the optimal supply chains for industrial by-products and waste materials, that facilitate industrial symbiosis within the circular economy.

Anastasija holds a master’s degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from Copenhagen University (Denmark) obtained in 2015. As part of the Erasmus program, she spent an exchange semester at Vienna University. During her studies, she gained particular interest in environmental and economic valuation methods and focused her thesis on the evaluation of EU climate change policy. After her graduation, she worked as a consultant at the Institute of Applied Economics (Copenhagen), where she participated in European research projects that aimed to recycle waste resources in asphalt and concrete production. Currently, Anastasija is an early stage researcher within the EU H2020 ETN DuRSAAM, the PhD training network on durable, reliable, and sustainable structures with AAMs.
