Anastasija Komkova has been a researcher at the Chair of Sustainable Construction since 2019. She completed her doctoral studies in 2023 and is currently working as a lecturer and postdoctoral researcher on the European research project AshCycle. In this role, she investigates urban-industrial symbiosis models related to the recycling of waste incineration residues in the construction sector. She also explores the socio-economic barriers that hinder the transition toward a circular economy.

Anastasija conducted her doctoral research as part of the European Training Network DuRSAAM. Her work focused on the sustainability assessment of alkali-activated materials (AAMs) within a circular economy framework. She analyzed the environmental impacts of AAMs and optimized supply chains for recycling industrial by-products into alternative construction materials. Additionally, she assessed stakeholder perspectives to support the regional integration of these materials. She holds a Master’s degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and has previously worked as a consultant at the Institute of Applied Economics and Health Research.
