Industriehanf als regenerativer Baustoff in der Schweizer Kreislaufwirtschaft

Projektbeschreibung

Looking at landscape use in peripheral and mountainous areas, there is both environmental and economic potential to holistically assess industrial hemp within a circular bio-regional economy. Hence, the potential for innovative building materials and construction techniques to foster systemic innovation while lowering the carbon footprint of Switzerland is tremendous.

In this proposed innovation project, we prototype three new composite building materials and test one existing one. We test and evaluate hemp-mycelium composite, Hemp geopolymer bricks, hemp-biochar-earth plaster, and existing hemp-lime bricks on their technical, ecological, indoor health and economic performance. We prototype and test them in the lab and in real applications. We apply life cycle analysis and further systemic design tools for assessing the potential for hemp as incubator of a Swiss circular economy.
