Building With Dry Sand

Abstract

The current report presents a research on the use of uniform sand as a construction material. Theoretical values for the strength are gained by using an equation, based on a research on reinforced earth. Experimentally, a simple system made of sand layers and of fabrics is tested under single axis compression. Results of the two procedures are compared. The tests results for uniform sand are as well compared with results of the same system with classic concrete sand, in order to determinate the influence of the uniformity on the maximal strength.
