The chair of Sustainable Construction considers that the USA's current political decisions are threatening future work on sustainability issues and more generally the ideas and values carried by science. We will not attend the ACI conference.

The lecture series Re-/Source the Built Environment in FS2017 is hosted by the Chair of Sustainable Construction. It invites a number of guest speakers to focus the use of resources on the built envrionment. By discussing material choices in the construction sector and presenting different approaches or technologies, this lecture series aims at addressing the global challenges we are facing and show that "it is not too late".

“Low Energy Concrete”, a project supported by SNF, has been set-up to look into the improvement potential of building materials by developing low-energy construction products. A new generation of Portland cement with clinker substitution up to 65% has been defined, able to decrease up to 60% the energy needed for manufacturing.
