Pierre Estève joins the Chair of Sustainable Construction
Pierre Estève joins the Chair of Sustainable Construction as an academic guest from September 2022 to August 2023
Pierre is PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh in cooperation with ETH Zurich in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and in Architecture. Training as ENSTA Paris Civil Engineer and Politecnico di Milano Architect.
He is working on Life Cycle Assessment of earthen constructions using a parametric and BIM approach. The aim is to help in the decision-making process regarding the use of earthen architecture, in comparison to conventional construction systems, based on environmental, but also economic, architectural, social and comfort criteria.
He is also conducting interviews with experts and professionals in the field of earthen construction to understand why the choice of earthen material is made. He is interested in who makes the decision, at what stage of the project the decision is made and what are the criteria and motivations behind the choice. The aim is to design a bespoke decision-making model for the use of earthen constructions.
The Chair of Sustainable Construction intends to ground sustainability in all disciplines involved in the built environment. For more information visit our Website.
