Yi Du was one of the two invited speakers at the first European RILEM P2P webinar. Yi Du presented “A new low-carbon clay concrete with improved water resistance” developed during his PhD research. He discussed the combined use of Tannin and iron compound in poured earth: the former is used as a dispersant to liquefy clay materials, and the latter acts as an anti-tannin agent to slowly remove the dispersing effect and re-coagulate clay.
Improving the performance of poured earth is a key element to lead to a larger use of this material, in substitution of less sustainable and more conventional building solutions.

The Chair of Sustainable Construction intends to ground sustainability in all disciplines involved in the built environment. For more information visit our Website.
