Welcome Giorgia Autretto
Giorgia Autretto is a visiting PhD student at the Chair of Sustainable Construction since February 2024.
Giorgia Autretto graduated in Architecture from Politecnico di Torino in Italy in 2018, and in 2021, she earned a Master’s degree in Architecture for Sustainable Design from the same institution with a thesis focused on advanced building envelope technologies. That same year, she joined the TEBE research group at the Department of Energy (DENERG) at Politecnico di Torino, where she began working on hygrothermal characterization of advanced materials and on in-field monitoring of the thermo-energetic behaviour of multifunctional opaque façade modules.
Currently, she is a PhD researcher focusing on assessing the performance of optimized advanced building envelope surface technologies. This involves both numerical and experimental analyses, characterized by applications in thin layers and implementing different functionalities such as thermal and moisture buffering, high solar reflectance, and thermal insulation.
Giorgia will be working on the assessment, through experimental and numerical analyses, of the moisture buffering performance of plasters with improved moisture buffering capacity and 3D printed clay components. The scope is to assess the improvement in the hygrometric comfort levels obtained with these technologies, together with embodied emissions entailed.
The chair of Sustainable Construction intends to embed sustainability in all aspects of the built environment. For more information, please visit our website.
