Ramawat Sribhanupratap Rathod is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Chair of Sustainable Construction, from May 2023
Welcome!
Rathod is a Civil Engineer with a PhD in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He defended his doctoral thesis in October 2021 and worked as a research associate at the Centre for Sustainable Technologies, IISc, before joining ETH Zurich. His doctoral research explored the behaviour of load-bearing wall units made of natural fibre reinforced stabilized rammed earth under different loading conditions. He secured a TATA MOTORS Research grant for his research proposal on the PhD work. He received master’s degree from the Civil Engineering Department, Indian Institute of technology Delhi (IITD) in 2015. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers, India.
Rathod’s research aims at developing sustainable and low-carbon alternate building material and technologies for affordable housing in urban and rural communities. His research interests include earthen constructions, low-carbon binders, bio-based materials in construction, fibre reinforced composites, and three-dimensional concrete/ earth printing. His research at ETH Zurich focuses on developing non-load bearing wall units for use in buildings that are made of earth and untapped forest resources.
