Sofia Roucan is on research leave from May to August 2023 at the Chair of Sustainable Construction

We warmly welcome Sofia

Sofia is an engineer and architect, she graduated in 2020 from a dual programme between ENSTA Paris in France and Polictecnico Di Milano in Italy.
She is currently doing her PhD at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour and ENTPE within the EDENE programme "European Doctoral Programme in Energy and Environment", a H2020- Marie Skłodowska-Curie - COFUND project.

Her research focuses on the contribution of earth-based building materials to indoor comfort and their impact on human health. In particular, she is working on the ability of earth-based plaster to improve indoor air quality by buffering indoor pollutants, with a special focus on CO2 adsorption mechanisms by clay minerals.

The research aims to identify the nature of interactions between raw earth and CO2, as well as predict the performance of earth-based plasters based on their composition and environmental conditions.
