Welcome Pedram Mirabian
Pedram Mirabian joined the Chair of Sustainable Construction as a research assistant in December 2024.
After earning his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Tehran in 2020, Pedram Mirabian worked in water infrastructure management at Balise Co., focusing on treatment plant maintenance and refurbishment planning. In 2021 he joined the Integrated Building Systems master’s program at ETH Zürich, hosted by the Department of Architecture. In this program, he gained hands-on knowledge in using interdisciplinary design approaches to minimize CO₂ emissions in both the construction and operation phases of building projects through materials, system choices, and design concepts.
During his studies at ETH Zürich, Pedram worked as a product engineer with the Chair of Sustainable Construction to further develop and teach Bombyx, the Grasshopper plugin for early-stage design-integrated building LCA. In parallel, he specialized in coding, computational design, and robotic fabrication at Gramazio Kohler Research as a teaching assistant.
After receiving his master’s degree in 2024, he joined the Chair of Sustainable Construction in the project “Capacity Building for Climate Adaptation.” His work supports the ICRC Sustainable Construction Tool (2021-2022), developed by the Chair in collaboration with the ICRC. Through parametric LCA and thermal comfort analyses, this project offers insights into the impacts of climate change, proposing interventions for existing buildings to improve future energy consumption and comfort.
His main research interests include:
• Parametric LCA
• Building Energy Performance
• Climate Adaptation
• Design Support Tools
• Computational Design
The chair of Sustainable Construction intends to embed sustainability in all aspects of the built environment. For more information, please visit our website.
